Steaming City by Cathy Hozack 66 x 72″ watercolor and acrylic on canvas |
If you haven’t checked out Philadelphia area artist, Cathy Hozack and her large scale watercolor masterpieces, now’s your chance. Cathy combines the impact of massive canvasses with unique acrylics and watercolors. Her work is not only striking but inspiring.
Vist my earlier piece to read more on Cathy’s perspective as an artist and as a woman with epilepsy.
Cathy studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 2002-2006 and completed a semester at the Burren College of Art in Ireland (2004). Her awards include the Cuff/Sammak Prize for Abstract Painting (2006), the PAFA Charles Toppan Prize (2006) and the prestigious Gilbert M. Cantor Memorial Scholarship (2005).
She is not only a fantastic artist, Cathy is also wonderfully fun and engaging. So if you are in the area, I hope you will join me at a wine and cheese reception, as I enjoy Cathy’s breathtaking paintings at the gallery at Le Cochon Noir.

Le Cochon Noir Jazz, Blues and BBQ

Le Cochon Noir (LCN) is a impressive restaurant but a challenge to locate at night. There is a small sign on Parkside Avenue (between 50th and 51st) that can easily be missed — it reads “Live Jazz” but does not mention LCN by name. LCN sits back from the road next to Discovery Charter School and the Philadelphia Business Technology Center. The door sign is tricky to see from Parkside Avenue and is illuminated by a bright blinding light. LCN’s atypical but secure setting showcases great food, art, and music!
