When my seizures returned after 10 years, I realized who I wanted to be by my side as my partner for the rest of my life. My epilepsy had put that into stark relief. My seizures helped me realize just how important it is to have people who love and support you when dealing with a condition like epilepsy.
I remember when Emily and I were first dating. My friends would ask me, “Aren’t you worried about what would happen if she has a seizure? Can you deal with that?” I would always find that such a strange question. I wanted to be with Emily for who she was as a person.

If someone had told me a year ago that in 12 months we would be doing most of our daily traveling by electric bike, I would have laughed. I live in Portland, and have a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old. It rains here for about 5 months out of the year. But, it happened.
