My family’s life forever changed 13 years ago when my son Jake, now 20, was diagnosed with epilepsy. Before the diagnosis we noticed Jake would have staring spells where we thought he was just ignoring us, but we had no idea they were actually seizures. We had no concept of what epilepsy was when the doctor first made the diagnosis. Luckily, our doctor did a good job of explaining the specifics of the condition and the types of seizures Jake was having, but the journey ahead of us seemed overwhelming. More
