She writes, “In 2008, my life drastically changed. I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. Over the past several years, I have endured several series of EEG’s, EKG’s and MRI’s in an attempt to classify the types of non-epileptic and epileptic seizures I was experiencing. Like many people diagnosed later in life I had little knowledge of what Epilepsy was and an even more limited knowledge about what life would be like living with it.”

I didn’t realize right away that I wasn’t ok last week. Usually, I’m pretty good at recognizing when I need to rest and unplug. Unfortunately, this time it took my family and friends saying, “you don’t look so good” or asking, “are you sure you’re ok?” for me to evaluate how I was really feeling. Wasn’t sure if I had a seizure [I have seizures in my sleep at times] or if I just wasn’t feeling well.With so much on my mind, it was difficult to identify when I needed a break. I’ve been so focused on pushing through and past what my body could do. I’ve always felt it made me appear strong. But even the strong need to rest!!!
